    The easiest way to create a rater from x, y is to use arcgis. It is easier and it will interpolate the points too. Create the TIN file from csv.file and then convert that to TIN . Then use arcgis tool to convert TIN file to raster . you can find this procedure in you tube / try searching creating DEM from google earth co-ordinates .
