Stephanie MParticipant
Dear Chris,
I am currently running some HEC-RAS simulations on our cluster (linux-based). I noted that despite setting the number of cores within the computational options, HEC-RAS always uses all cores available (i.e., 64). This did not happen when running HEC-RAS on a normal computer. Have you noticed this before? Can you advise on how to set the number of cores when running HEC-RAS on a HPC?
Many thanks and kind regards,
StephanieStephanie MParticipantHi all,
I just started using Hec-Ras 6.1 and my hdf file seems to show values (e.g. velocity) for each output intervals rather than for each cell. Unfortunately this Hec-Ras version does not have the check box in the output control options anymore. Do you know how to change the settings to receive values for each cell within the hdf file?
I would be very grateful for your help.
Many thanks and kind regards,

thank you so much for your help! Unfortunately, this is the first time I am using Hec-Ras. I have already explored the last tab “HDF5 Write Parameters” in the “set output control options” window but unfortunately there is no “Depth” option and all other cell related options do not seem to correspond to the values I receive in RasMapper (from what I understand Depth in RasMapper is calculated using the cell centre rather than the min elevation as for example used for the “Cell Invert Depth” option). I have also activated “Depth” in the “Computation Level Output Options” tab but it hasn’t helped either. I apologies for asking again but what option do I need to check in order to receive the same results for depth as shown in the RasMapper?February 28, 2022 at 8:20 am in reply to: To extract depth & velocity of each computational cell #15424Stephanie MParticipantHi,
I am currently running a 2D simulation using Hec-Ras 6.1. Unfortunately, when trying to export the data (Velocity and depth as displayed in rasmapper) the *.p01.hdf does not contain the depth dataset. I have search all folders in the hdf file but can only find cell Velocity x/y, face shear stress, face velocity, log hydraulics, time step and water surface (path output/output blocks/base output/unsteady time series/2D flow areas/river). I also checked the 2D unsteady tutorials but they also do not contain a depth file when investigating the p01.hdf file. Please may you help me in exporting the flow depth, I require the flow depth for each cell so that I can export it to excel.
Many thanks and kind regards,
