Not from the RASController. But you can write a procedure to retrieve the station elevation points and descriptions from the geometry text file. Chapter 4 discusses how to do this. The keywords in the geometry file that you are looking for are: #Sta/Elev and BEGIN DESCRIPTION: / END DESCRIPTION:
Chris G.KeymasterIn the current beta release, no. But what we’ve been using is Snagit, a screen capturing application that also captures video. It works quite nicely. There are other free applications that do the same thing available online.
Chris G.KeymasterThe rapid initial drop in stage in your hydrograph is because you’ve set initial conditions that are not what RAS wants to compute. Try adjusting your initial conditions to match the first time step conditions.
At the upstream end of your reach, the instability can be fixed by one or more of the following:
Higher n values: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.com/2009/12/n-values-in-steep-streams.html
Tighter cross sections: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.com/2008/12/samuels-equation-for-cross-section.html
Refinement of HTAB parameters: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.com/2009/02/crazy-energy-grade-line.html
Turn on mixed flow: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.com/2011/04/mixed-flow-regime-options-lpi-method.html
This other post may help as well: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.com/2013/10/stabilizing-dynamic-unsteady-hec-ras.html
Chris G.KeymasterIf you are only running under high flow conditions, just pick anything for low flow. It won’t be used, but at least you can get the model to run.
Chris G.KeymasterTypically in that situation, I’ve determined a concurrent flood level for the big stream and use that as the downstream boundary condition for your model, to evaluate flooding at the small bridge. If evaluating the small bridge for scour, I suggest using normal depth at the downstream end of your small stream. It’s good to do a sensitivity analysis on the downstream boundary to see what effect (if any) it has on your small bridge.
Chris G.KeymasterThat seems very low for a weir coefficient. If you are interested in getting the hydraulics at the lock itself during the overtopping event, I would suggest modeling it with two inline structures with cross sections in between.

–Apple-Mail-12888A37-6F6C-4EC9-A6D9-63F404AD5AA1–Chris G.Keymaster“Breaking the HEC-RAS Code” is a book that completely documents the HECRASController procedures for Visual Basic Applications (VBA). You can get more information and order the book from here: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.com/p/book.html or from most online book retailers. There is also available an Excel Workbook with example code for every HECRAS procedure plus many other example applications that use the HECRASController. You can get that at the same link above.

–Apple-Mail-44895FB6-33D1-4D41-9782-784840CA3FA3–Chris G.KeymasterIn the geometry schematic, hover your mouse cursor over the point where you would like each vertex in your “copied” cross sections to be. There’s a x-y coordinate readout in your geometry schematic on the lower right. Record those points. You may have to zoom in pretty close to get the precision in your coordinate points that you’d like. Then go to GIS Tools…XS Cutlines Table, and enter in those coordinate points for each of your copied cross sections.
Chris G.KeymasterUse an inline structure and put in a gate. Then select “User-Defined” for you gate type.
Chris G.KeymasterThanks for sharing this Thomas. I trust you got it to work.
Chris G.KeymasterThanks for the shout-out Jonathan!
Chris G.KeymasterThis is no problem. It just means that RAS had already computed the internal HTAB curves and didn’t need to recompute them. You’re good.
