Weir coefficient for connection Data

Dear Chris

I created a model based on a laboratory work, which has been done in 2008. The lab model was consist of a reservoir and a floodplain and they are connected by a gate which opens suddenly with one second. In the link below you may read the article:

Here, I created the same model in HEC-RAS using 2D flow area representing both reservoir and floodplain and I connected them using SA/2D area connection. My question is about the weir coefficient which should be used in data connection.

I am using SI unit and weir width is 0.12m, what will be the weir coefficient for this case?
By the way I used weir coefficient = 2. and it is seems suits my model when I compare both lab and HEC-RAS results. But I am not sure about the weir coefficient that I used.

Could brief me with this case?
