I am working now on my thesis topic for a water quality modeling for local creak in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai). I had to built the hydraulic model (unsteady state) to be integrated with the water quality one. However, i have several inquires:

    – first, when i insert the boundary conditions for the lateral flow, the sign that i am getting is “?” instead of an ” arrow” as like the upstream and downstream RS boundary conditions which makes me wonder if the program is considering such boundary condition
    – second after i run the model the results that i am getting for the water quality are having huge errors, starting with the upstream and downstream RS boundary values which are after the simulation are not the same in the output data. Also trying to calibrate and toning the model in order to verify it by changing some water quality parameters is not resulting with much difference to my base model. I have been suggested to force the model by using a block for the downstream RS, yet didn’t help much.

please let me know if you have any suggestion that may help me, or any research for water quality model that has been carried by using HEC-RAS.
