Water not staying in river channel but spreading all over. - Kleinschmidt

I am running hec-ras model for flood inundation mapping. I am doing steady flow analysis with different discharge values corresponding to frequencies of return period but water is not staying in the river channel rather it get spread out all over area. Also i am not getting good cross section from dem. What should I do? I have attached cross section image and water inundation image.

How good is the topographic data? From the cross-section you showed, it does not look very good.
