    Hi everybody,
I’m trying to study a river about 3.50 km long with two very sinuous reaches.
In some cross sections of the sinuous reaches (but also in some regular reaches) I get this warning :
“The energy equation could not be balanced within the specified number of iterations.
The program used critical depth for the water surface and continued on with che calculation”.
I tried to enter more cross sections before and behind the “critical sections” but it didn’t solve the problem.
Further, the critical depth assigned in these cross sections varies as I move up or down the levee position…
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

    Hi

I agree with you, that energy grade line cann´t oscillate. Value E.G.elevation must decrease/fall to downstream!
    You have two resolution:
    1. Edit the crossection spacing- you have to adjust SC spacing to slope using tool XS interpolation
    2. Edit HTab ´Hydraulic Table Propertiets´ – Geometry Data- HTab param- Point (for all points set Values 100) and Increment (for all Increment Copy Invert).

Mr. ChrisG wrote excellent article for this theme: http://hecrasmodel.blogspot.sk/2009/06/energy-grade-line-problems.html

    Regards!
