Unsteady HECRAS Model – Spike in WSEL at Inflow Boundary Condition

I am working on creating a 1D/2D HECRAS model. I noticed that there was a dramatic spike in WSEL in the 1D reach right where the flow enters. In order to troubleshoot, I created a new model with only the 1D components, and injected the flow at the most upstream cross-section. When viewing the results in profile view, there is still a dramatic spike in WSEL at the most upstream cross-section (at the upstream hydrograph boundary condition). However, when reviewing the results in RasMapper nothing really stands out as being unusual, and the Max Depth inundation looks OK.

Does anyone have suggestions on what to look into? It is clear to me that something is not right, but I am not sure what it is. I have tried adjusting the time step and adding additional cross-sections. I have also looked for errors in the hydrograph, but nothing stands out. Images are below of both the profile view and the RasMapper Max Depth. Does anyone have suggestions on other things I should look into?

Your model is just unstable. Try adjusting your time step and adjusting your HTab parameters
