I know there have been some posts about this error code, but here goes again. I can run all the demo programs fine using HEC-RAS 5.0, but running my newly created basin model, I get the following error(s) below. I don’t know if it is associated with a RAM problem or a problem with model setup. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Tony,

When I had that problem, it usually helped me to the geometric pre-processor within RAS Mapper. Go to RAS Mapper, and under Geometries find the right geometry and have all the sublayers (like rivers, XS,…) shown. Right click on the 2D Flow Areas and select “Compute 2D Flow Areas Hydraulic Tables”. Then let it run and when you go back to run the unsteady flow analysis (close and reopen the analysis window) again and it has normally worked for me. Let me know if you have questions or if this doesn’t work.

    ddidn’t work for me atleast….
Having the same issue after doing the above mentioned!
    Is there any other way?

I got this same error on my unsteady 2D model. I tried removing all BCs and adding them back in – didn’t work. I also tried the “Compute 2D Flow Areas Hydraulic Tables” in RAS Mapper, then re-running the unsteady flow analysis – didn’t work.

The unfortunate solution was a general debugging technique mentioned here (ctrl+f ‘157’):

I saved my geometry as different versions, removed individual bridge/culvert breaklines, and checked the model after each removal. My model had around 15 bridges, but 4 were really complicated (5-6 culverts spaced closely to simulate piers). I started by removing those 4 breaklines one-by-one and the model to ran after the third removal. This indicated something was odd with that particular breakline so I made some adjustments to my culverts.

I hope this helps any future modelers who come across the 157.
