Hi, I have a couple questions – my workgroup is looking at transitioning from using HEC-GeoRAS to create our HEC-RAS geometry to using RAS Mapper since we are getting increasingly concerned that GeoRAS won’t be around forever.
1. Obstructions – we add houses in as obstructions since they are removed from terrain models, and GeoRAS was great for creating those polygons and importing them directly in as structures. How are you handling this? My idea is to edit to the terrain to add structures, but that of course isn’t as easy as GeoRAS made it.
2. Bridge Deck/Roadways – this was also a great feature in GeoRAS which automatically created bridges/culverts and inline structures at the correct stations in HEC-RAS, and imported the bridge deck/roadway elevation data. I also don’t see this as a feature in RAS Mapper. Are you doing all this manually? I know of some tools in GIS that can assist in getting the 3D data from these lines, but again, GeoRAS made this very easy.
