While developing a 2D geometry using a DEM that already accounts for structures along the river, I realized I couldn’t run the model unless the terrain would be modified. Is there a way to transfer flow out from the dam, for example, and direct it to an internal boundary 1km away, sort of to bypass the dam?

Will the downstream reach be modeled in 2D as well? If yes, you could use a SA/2D Connection and add a culvert/rating curve that pulls flow from the upstream side of the dam and outlets to the downstream reach. It has to go from 2D area to 2D area though.

Yes, it will be modeled in 2D as well. Thanks for the insight, I will try it out!!
