I have a 1m resolution DEM, and I would like to combine it with the terrain model of a concrete channel.

I draw XS sections of the channel in HEC-RAS, so I have also the XS interpolated surface provided by RAS Mapper.

Now I create the combined new terrain starting from the base surface (DEM) and the channel surface, giving to the last the higher priority.

Since the base DEM was 1m resolution I kept this cell size also in the new terrain.

However I want to be sure that during the terrain creation operated by RAS Mapper, the original width of the channel is not changed, maybe because the 1 m resolution is too coarse.

In other words, does the XS interpolated surface boundaries will be modified during the new terrain creation? If yes, how can I ensure the channel model to be unchanged after the combination?

    I woulf appreciate your help.

    Best Regards

I have done this before where the terrain has 1m grid and the channel is done with 0.1m grid. When you merge the two HECRAS keeps both grids. You will not lose the channel definition.
