I assume that HEC-RAS storage areas must be defined within an unsteady state model as that would be the only way to route the flow through the storage volume.. correct? I have an effective FEMA model that is modeled as steady state flow but would like to see if what the impacts would be of having storage attenuation within the overbank areas. Is there any way to properly model the effects of storage attenuation within a steady state model? Thank You.

Steady state does not account for attenuation as it assumes an infinite amount of water.

As Cameron stated. You would have to do the routing outside of steady state, say in HMS or unsteady RAS.
