    Hey guys,
I have built up my hecras model and changed the levees and ineffective flow areas. Then I wanted to calculate it. But the calculation stops after a few seconds in the calculation of XS Interpolation Surface (see Image). I don´t what to do now. Had anyone ever the same problem? I would be very thankful for help (Sorry for my bad english).

Was it ever working? I have seen HEC-RAS have issues like this when some of the cross-sections are set up to close together and are different lengths or cross-sections are overlapping.

    Hello,

thank you for answering! Yes, it was working. I have extended a cross-section to better represent the foreland. Then it was still running. After changing the levee in a cross-section the computation stops…
The cross-sections are set at a distance of 20 m from each other and do not overlap. Now I have adjusted the length to minimize the difference….but it still stops…

I would start doing tests by removing items until I found the issue. In your case, I would start with the levees by removing them all and adding them back in 1 at a time until the problem occurs.

First I deleted the Levees. Computation stoped. Then I deleted the Ineffective Flow Areas. Computation still stoped. Then I upload the geometry via CSV and replaced the cross sections. Computation worked…
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
I have the same problem and cant seem to figure out the underlying issue. Also, I am developing HEC RAS model for the first time.
My model has 520 cross sections along four tributaries of total 42 km in length. The model works fine for 2-3 km reach in each tributary but the model stops computation, if I try to run it for the entire tributary. The weird part is- I have used the same approach for obtaining cross sections throughout tributaries. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!
    Thank you!

Thank Nits for you post. It is certainly helpful if everyone describes the problem here if it occurs. So maybe we can figure it out…

… now in an other project the problem occurs again. It is a small model with 15 cross sections. Everything was fine till I interpolate new cross sections to integrate bridges. Than the computation stops! I don´t know why and I don´t want to build up the model again…

I would be really, really grateful for any suggestions! It is so frustrating…

Hey Nits! Please try to run your model with the old HecRAS Version 4.1. I tried it and – tadaaaa- the model runs. I can now easily add, extend or interpolate cross sections and the computation runs. With the Version 5.0, 5.02 und 5.03 the problem appears.

I hope this was helpful 🙂
