    Perhaps this is obvious but I could sure use an explanation.

    Why is 2D modeling only available for Unsteady flow regimes? I am running a steady flow model and although water is above my lateral structure it is not conveyed into the grid.

    Is it because without time steps it cannot compute the rate at which water will laterally disperse. Can it not simply take the 1D WSE and apply that to the neighboring grid element?

    Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    The 2d is doing storage routings so it needs a volume. You could run a long steady state hydrograph but not sure what the results will be like as you’ll be essentially feeding a infinite volume. If there isn’t a way for the 2d to let the received flow go it’ll fill to it’s maximum.
