I am a beginner with Hec-Ras beta 5.0 . please let me know , how can i
start generating mesh . Is the work of Ras Mapper a prerequisite ? I
started the work with taking background image , but its not showing any
image in geometry editor or the image is coming too small . how can i solve
these problems?

download and follow through the menu. You need some engineering background on hydraulic and one dimensional analysis to understand the mechanism in HECRAS

You should define the terrain model to be used for your mesh computations in RAS Mapper. If the background image is not showing in geometry editor , go to view > set schematic plot extends > set to computed extends OR manually set the extends .
