    I am new to HEC-RAS, and just have a simple question regarding specifying the “station-elevation” for cross sections:

    Is the “station” simply an x-coordinate within a cross section, or does it have to come from some 2D coordinate (like UTM)? Is there any requirement for the “station” among different cross sections? For example, does the station 0 in one cross section must be somehow in line with station 0 in another cross section?

    Any hint is appreciated.
