    Hello,

I am trying to model a point source and sink in an unsteady 1D model. Any idea how to do this? I think I can achieve a source using a lateral inflow boundary? But I would like it to be a sink?

    Thanks!

Apologies for duplicate post – somehow accidentally pasted something in the title last time

I’m not sure RAS allows negative discharge in lateral inflow.
For sure you can define a Lateral Structure and than define the sink with Rule BC.

would you be able to explain a bit how to do this? I’ve never used the rules BC.

Rules BC allows to define the flow in the lateral structure constant, based on variables in your model or time.

To define rules RAS gives you a simple programming language.

Take a look of Chapter 16 Advanced Features for Unsteady Flow Routing in HEC-RAS Users Manual
