    Hi,

I have a lateral structure to connect a 1D river reach to a 2D flow area. I set all options (Weir station and elevation from terrain, levee breach was OK, Breach checkbox was checked etc.) like in the example project (Muncie.prj) but the water did not flow over the levee, was not shown in the 2D area, although in RAS Mapper the Max WSE was higher than the Terrain.

There was no error message, the computation was successfull, but it was like I had no lateral structure at all…

What can I do? What could still hold back the water from overflow?

    Thanks,
    Kriszta

Did you set the to connections so it knows to go from river to the 2D area?

I’m sorry, what do you mean exactly?

    Thanks for your help!

Tailwater connection is OK, (Type: SA/2D flow area) I set the 2D flow area for the tailwater connection. HW and TW connection stationing are OK too.

If you don’t mind (or anyone else?), I would send the files to take a look at this project. Because it is very urgent to me. This is a part of my thesis and the deadline is coming.

    Thanks a lot,
    Kriszta

I attached my files (plan, geometry…), and the projection file above. (all:~100MB)

    Thank you in advanced!

It’s not clear what the issue is, but the project located at the link below has the lateral structure set up I believe as you intended. Accepting the default polyline created for the lateral structure as geo-referenced created very strange HW connections. Removing the spatial coordinates isn’t much of an issue, as flow across the structure only occurs when breached, and the structure only spans two XS’s (so could also have only two station-elevation points to sufficiently define the lateral structure). Should also note the weir coefficient was not in SI units.

Hopefully, this is helpful for you. Have a look, and pass along any further questions.

    Hi Kriszta,

I saw your toppic’s “Connect 1D River reach to 2D Flow area”. That is same embarrassed my thesis.
How did you solve it? Pls, help me anything if you can. That’s great! if you send your HEC RAS’s File have been solved this.
    My email: [email protected]

Thanks so much for your help.

    Dear Mark,

How did you user defined the weir stationing for Tail Water Lateral Structure connections?
