Is it possible to get estimates for soil moisture (or another proxy for soil moisture) from HEC-RAS simulations? Since there is an infiltration scheme, I’d think this could be possible, but I am unable to find anything.

    Thank you!

In RAS Mapper, right-click on your results plan and select “create a new results layer” then expand “additional 2D variables” this is where loss method outputs reside, hope this helps!

    Thank you!

When I navigate to both the hydraulics and additional 2D variable tabs, I am still unable to find quantities associated with the loss (see list below from Add 2D Var). Is there an option I need to select to make the loss variables available or could this depend on the infiltration scheme (SCS Curve Number) I selected?

    -Cumulative Precipitation Depth
    -Cumulative Iteration
    -Maximum Water Surface Error
    -Face Velocity Max
    -Face Velocity Min

What version of RAS are you in. I am currently in V6.3.1 but maybe you are right, the model I am using uses constant and loss so i see many more variables. I wonder if SCS CN method you have to use computation outputs to view excess precip and compare it with your input and that would be your losses.
