    Hello,

I have a 2d model where I need to simulate different future scenarios where the bathymetry and terrain in will change in varying degrees in between the scenarios. What is the simplest and quickest way to modify the bathymetry in a 2d-terrain?

I am working in QGis/RiverGis to prepare the data, which I believe is fairly similar to ArcGis/Hec GeoRas. I have created a terrain .tif which represents todays situation in the river. But now I need to modify it both on land and in the river to simulate what would happen if certain side channels, that have been closed off, where opened up and rocks/boulders that have been removed from the riverbed to accommodate timber logging where restored to the river. I have access to good lidar data and bathymetry. The model needs to be in 2d since it is a complex flow situation with flat/wide floodplains and split flows. Combined 1d-2d model might work but I have limited experience of creating such models.

Is there, for example, any way to for example draw 1d cross sections that are used to interpolate new terrain in between them?

Maybe you sould try this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPG2ndfYa1o

It helps you to understand how to modify the terrain with Ras Mapper.
There might be smarter tools but I dont know anythin that is avaliable for free.

    Good Luck!
