Got my model to run without errors thanks to Chris G. Blog about how he fixed an unsteady model.

Out of many sections on a reach there is 1 section line that the channel/bank it located way off the reach. I tried reversing the section but it didn’t change. The red dots for the bank stations are correct in section but not in plan

    any ideas?

First off you probably don’t need that many interpolated cross-sections.

If you don’t care so much for mapping then it won’t matter what the interpolated cross-sections look like in plan view as the should be using the interpolated reach lengths.

There are two types of interpolation options, one that follows the channel centerline and one that doesn’t. It does not change the actual interpolation, it just changes the visual appearance. the one that follows the centerline will keep the banks visually looking correct.

Thank you Cameron for your response.
So I will check the reach lengths along that part for accuracy. The flooded water spread does, visually in the map, choke up more than I expected there so I may pretty it up although that part of the study isn’t of concern. Based on the image do you think it will change the upstream or downstream flows/flooding?

oh and do you know the wayward mapped cross section is displayed far off the reach centerline? Should I delete that one and add it back and reinterpolate?

I did delete the interpolated sections through the curves and the mid xsec, created a new section, input the data and interpolated between the 3 xsecs with a greater distance between and it looks better visually and the flooding boundaries didn’t change except the area in the curves.

    Thanks again.
