Does anyone know of any additional detailed output that can be retrieved for culverts within a 2D area other than through the “Detailed Output” window? I would like to see information on inlet/outlet control, flow depth etc. similar to what is available in normal 1D culvert output. Any help would be appreciated. I suspect there is nothing available but I assume that RAS is already computing these values and would not hurt to ask.

    Thank you!

It would be nice if more detailed output is available. If you get an HDF viewer, you can look directly at the RAS output by opening up the Project.p##.hdf file. Where “Project” is your project name, such as BeaverCreek. and “p##” is the plan number such as p03.

I dug down into it and it shows the headwater, tailwater, and flow for each culvert but nothing else.

It would be a bit tedious, but if you were motivated, you could create a simple RAS model that had a culvert between two 1D storage areas. Enter the culvert you wish to model and then set the upstream and downstream storage area water surface and run it in steady flow mode. The results might not be perfect but would probably be fairly close. The upstream and downstream water surfaces you could get by creating a time series in RASMapper.
