I have updated HEC-RAS from 5.0.3 to 5.0.5 on an off-network Windows 10 desktop and I get this error when trying to do anything with hdf files (ras geometry has an hdf component and the terrain also has an hdf component) in RAS Mapper:
‘The type initializer for HDF.PInvoke.H5f threw an exception.’
I haven’t seen this error before and I had no problems working with the project in 5.0.3. I can even open up the geometry through the Geometry editor and I can see my mesh and everything there but when I open up RAS mapper I get the above error.
At first I thought maybe I was missing some kind of HDF .dll but I have HDF5 installed and HDF viewer installed and I’m able to view the geometry.g01.hdf file in hdf viewer so I don’t think anything is wrong with the files themselves.
Has anyone had any success solving this problem? I’m pretty stuck here. Thank you.

thanksJanuary 23, 2019 at 8:30 pm #11452AnonymousGuestI am having the same issue this week. I was able to create a terrain using v5.0.3 earlier today, but I cannot import it into v5.0.5, nor can I create a new terrain in v5.0.5. When I try to create a new terrain “proposed.hdf” from a Civil3D geotiff named “PG.tif” in v5.0.5, I keep getting the following error:

January 27, 2020 at 11:45 pm #11453AnonymousGuestI tried removing and reinstalling the software, and then it worked properly.

Some files such as C++ and others may not be working properly.
Uninstall the software and restart the computer system. Install the software again. it will work.
