I begin to use Hec-Ras in order to do sediment analysis. I try to simulate Newton experiment (deposition in a 9.14m long and 0.305m wide canal) and I have several problems:

    – With the boundary condition rating curve in sediment data (at the upstream section), results didn’t change even if I changed the total load (multiplying by 10 or 100). Could someone help me to understand?
How is it possible to visualise the initial boundary condition after the run. For exemple, I put a discharge of 0.00566 m3/s with a corresponding load of 0.2tons/day. But when the calcul finished to run, I don’t know how to verify that the software had taken this value for the run. Could someone indicate to me a solution?

-I thought that the mass capacity was computed at each computation increment. Nevertheless, capacity has only changed at each flow duration time step. Could someone explain to me if the capacity is computed at each flow duration time step or at each computation increment time step?

    Thanks

I found a solution for my last question. The calculation of the mass capacity is only calculated if the bed change is significant during one computation increment time step.

I have the same problem as yours. HEC doesn’t take into account sediment upstream boundary. May i use the “rating curve” or “sediment load series” option, the result is exactly the same and doesn’t take into account sediment upstream concentration.

One year after, did you solve your problem? Can you help solving mine ?
