    Chris,

I am having difficulty connecting a storage area within a steady state model using a lateral structure (weir/culvert combination). I have set up the storage area, given it an elevation – volume curve, and linked the lateral structure to the storage area. I have given my lateral structure a HW RS, HW Position, Tailwater Connection and Structure Type. I am not using a gate or diversion curve for this particular model.

When I run the model, it appears that the river is not connected properly to the lateral structure or storage area, because the storage area is not being utilized at all.

Is there an important step that I may be missing that is causing the storage area to apparently be bypassed?

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

    Respectfully,

You say you are running a steady state model. The storage area won’t have an impact on the model as there isn’t a volume associated in steady state that gets diverted.

Now if you aren’t seeing a reduction in flow due to the lateral weir check that you have selected the flow optimization. Plan editor window, options, flow optimizations…
