    Hi,

I’ having some problems creating a terrain on HEC-RAS 5.0.3 RAS Mapper. I was trying to create a terrain as simple as possible with one raster (.tif) I made in ArcGIS from point data.

When I try to create a terrain the computing just stops at “Creating .vrt…” without any error messages (see below). I would appreciate any advice, Thanks!

Problem solved! It appears the problem was with network connections with the company servers..

I am having the same problem. I thought it was because the size of the DEM file, but it wasn’t because I resampled the DEM multiple times from 1×1 (247Mb) cell size to 2×2 (87Mb) and 4×4 (25Mb). With all the DEMs I am having the same problem.

For me the solution was to save the hec-ras project (.prj), the DEM (.tif) that had to be processed, and the destination terrain file (.hdf) to a directory path with no special characters (no à, ò, ù, …)
