The Priessmann slot is used to enhance the stability of the computations for situations that have both free-surface and pressurized flow in culverts during an unsteady flow simulation (see Chap. 4 of the Hydraulic Reference Manual). The conveyance characteristics of the culvert are the same with and without the slot. So, perhaps the culvert is not experiencing pressurized flow if both situations are stable.

    Good Morning Dr. Michael,

I have a young lady, engineer friend in the Atlanta area… She has her own engineering firm – a good hydraulic engineer…. Using XP-SWMM and HEC-RAS…. Had a question for me and I referred her to the HEC-RAS Help blog…. I was telling her about you and how you had helped me so much while you were with the ACoE Hydra Engneering group before retiring….

Do you still assist people now after retiring…?
