Pressure Flow vs. Energy Flow

I have a relatively flat channel with a 30 feet wide and 34 feet long and 6 feet tall hydraulic opening. I have velocities of 1 to 2 ft/s with head of 1 to 2 feet and tailwater of 1 to 2 feet above the top of the opening. Am I justified in turning off the pressure flow calculation and looking at the energy only calculation during high flow conditions?

I’d say keep pressure flow. Try both and see which gives you the highest energy answer.
