I am working on developing the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) from the PM Precipitation (PMP) and I plan on performing the modeling in HMS. Has anyone here done this type of modeling? The link below indicates the NWS has discontinued PMP activities, but the reports are still there. Anyone know if there was historically event data available for download or do you generate project specific events solely on information contained in these reports.

    Thanks in advance,

I’ve only ever used the NOAA HM reports to develop a PMP. I’m not aware of other sources.

Also have only ever used HMR reports as far as free stuff goes and it is usually the accepted method. The company I worked for got up to date very site specific PMP’s, but had to pay a company to do the analysis. If that is an option for you look in to Applied Weather Associated (AWA) out of Colorado.

Our group has decided the NOAA atlas 14 gridded PMP product is the best choice for our modeling effort.

    Thank you for the input.
