We’re trying to model an overflow structure as an outlet of a pond. The outlet culvert invert elevation is 1222.1 and the top of the overflow structure is 1230.4 to maintain the pond WSEL. We’ve tried modeling it with gates/inline structures and with a storage area/connection but it still appears to just be flowing right through the culvert with the structure having no effect.

    Hi Maria,

Is the water surface in the pond reaching an elevation above 1230.4? If the culvert is large enough and you haven’t “blocked” it in some way, then water will keep flowing through the culvert until the WSEL in the pond has reached 1230.4. Once the WSEL has reached 1230.4, water will exit the pond through the culvert AND the overflow structure.

If you want to see how the overflow structure is performing in a situation where, for example, the culvert is blocked, try creating a geometry that doesn’t include the culvert. That way, the only way water can exit the pond is by the overflow structure.
