    Hi all,
I’ve been working on an unsteady 2D model, and I keep having issues with flow profiles that are entirely negative throughout the reach, even in the very upstream portion.

Today, I plotted a few profile lines in RAS Mapper on top of each other, and one of the lines has a positive flow time series, while the other has a negative flow time series. They are essentially mirror images of each other. These are for the same model result. The model is otherwise stable, with a pretty low volume accounting error.

Has anyone else experienced this before or have any insight into why the profile lines drawn at the same location might not show the same flow time series…? I’m using HEC-RAS 6.0.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi Leah,
The profile lines have to be drawn from left to right in respect of the direction of flow in order to be positive.
If the values are negative, all it means is they have been drawn from right to left but the values should be correct.
