Hello,
I am modeling a hydropower intake using inline weir as diversion and lateral weir with culvert as intake orifice. Intake of hydropower plant is continued as desilting basin then head pond and tunnel intake at the end. Split flow optimization is enabled for the lateral weir, which is considered as intake flow. River and headworks are modeled as different reach so flow from the lateral weir culvert is set to flow in the U/S cross section of headworks. Boundary conditions for flow in headworks reach are fixed water level at downstream and critical depth at U/S and for river it’s normal depth with slope at U/S and critical depth at downstream. Inline structure with gate is provided in the intake to check the flow through the lateral weir culvert of river. A lateral weir as spillway is provided on headworks reach as well.
Am I doing right using lateral structure with culvert as intake? Do I need to create junction for diverting the flow or splitting flow using lateral weir is OK? Using gate in headworks reach to control the flow is good??
I have to run the model to check the water surface elevation in front of intake wall, water level in headworks i.e. intake, desilting basin and head pond for 10,20,100 yrs flood.
Thanks in advance!
