I am beginning work on an extremely large HEC-RAS model, containing approximatley 8- miles of channel and over 100 inline and lateral structures. The actual hydraulic modeling will be fairly straightforward, but because of the large size of the model data management and work flow plans will be extremely important.

I am planning on developing and managing the geometric data using GEO-RAS, and construct channel XS using a surface developed for the channel. However, I am still looking for the best way to incorpate the structures and inputting the geometry. Does anyone have any experience with automation regarding the input of a large number of structure data into a HEC-RAS model? I am thinking a brute force method of entering the structure data 1 by 1 is the best option but if anyone has suggestions or can pass along notes on their experience, it would be greatly appreciated.

In the past I have always had to manually input the data. I do however tabulate the data for each structure in Excel first and ctrl+C and ctrl+V it into RAS. I do this because usually you are flipping between GIS data, survey data, and the program to get stations and offsets and it can get confusing in a hurry. If there is a way to automate it I am interested as well.
