I would like to setup a HEC RAS model for each of the three detentions dams that I’m responsible for and would appreciate some guidance on some of the issues that I’m currently struggling with. Two of the dams have been fitted with round outflow (culverts) and one with a rectangular section.

The first challenge is that for all three dams, the inlet of the outflows is partially obstructed with a thin plate as per the attached inlet of the one dam.

The second challenge is that one of the dams have been fitted with an auxiliary inlet that feeds back into the main inflow.

I suppose the first question would be if it is indeed possible to incorporate and model these structures in HEC RAS with a relatively high degree of confidence?

If this is indeed possible, what would you suggest? If one or any of these aren’t possible, what alternatives would you recommend?

The one reason for the model is to determine the capacities of the outflows and the second one is to model some dam breaches.

    Thanks
