    Dear all,

I built a very first 1D/2D model with Hec-Ras for a flooding project. The river channel is represented with the 1D part and the floodplain with the 2D part. 1D and 2 models are linked with a lateral structure.

In order to have consistent exchanges between 1D and 2D parts, the lateral weir embankment elevations is defined from the river bank elevations.

I am nevertheless skeptical with my results and guess that I don’t really understand how Hec-Ras operates the flow exchanges between 1D and 2D models. I obtain indeed flooded area in a place where the water level is lower than the river banks and don’t know therefore why the water appears in the 2D model without any flow over the river bank first.

Would you have any information to provide about this please ? I really would like to understand how the flow from 1D goes in the 2D model.

Thank you for your help !
