Hi, I inserted a few weirs as inline structures along a river reach. I have created fictitious cross sections immediately upstream and downstream of each dam. My current is supercritical upstream and downstream of the section, but I do not understand why the transition takes place through the critical depth.

RAS won’t compute supercritical flow over an inline structure. So that is why it is defaulting to critical depth at that location.

So even the energy grade line is false!
