    Hello!

As stated before, I have a model with 2 different 2D Flow Areas that are connected via bridge.

I want to run the model with a certain initial water level in the upstream flow area, while the downstream flow area should start dry. The downstream flow area has some regions that are elevated below 0 masl. When I start the simulation, HEC-RAS automatically starts with an WSE of 0 masl in the downstream Flow Area instead of dry. Is it possible to change this?

    Best regards

If you leave the initial elevation blank, it should start dry.

Also, if you have any stage hydrograph boundaries on the downstream area, uncheck the box that says Use Initial Stage.

I left the inital elevation blank and the box is also unchecked but it still starts with a WSE of 0 masl.

It could be a bug in RAS, but I have not ever had that problem.

You aren’t using a restart file, are you?

Also, if you are using an Initial Conditions time or warm up steps, water could be coming in before you get output at time = 0.

My final suggestion, you could try entering a really low WSE. For the initial WSE, try something like -1000.
