    I have a question about 1D/2D modeling

A consulting firm has complete HEC RAS project for us with 1D and 2D components. But we plan to remove this 2D flow area (figure 1), which is a very small portion and in between 1D reaches, to simplify computation and save some time. How can I remove this 2D flow area and have these separated 1D reaches connected again (two upstream reaches and one downstream reach)? and run the entire model as 1D unsteady flow mode (figure 2)?

    Thanks so much

Theres no real easy way to do this other than extend all the reaches and create a 1D junction and additional cross sections. Then make sure to update the flow distribution.

    Thanks Luis.

It seems that Chris has this question answered here.

This is exactly what I am looking for.

Im aware of that 1D method, however you are not dealing with a 1D complete model. You have a 1D2D model that you are looking to remove the 2D area and combine reaches. There is no easy or quick way to do this.
