Hello,
I am doing a dam breach model and am running into problems under a road downstream that backs up the water when it should pass it just fine. I have come up with 3 solutions.
1. Use terrain modifier to create a channel. State engineer does not like this.
2. Create a SA/2D connection along the road, then create a culvert in the connection data editor. My problem here is no matter what I do, the culvert is always below the adjacent cell and RAS doesn’t like this. It’s not close either, it’s about 20 feet off. i.e. it wants the culvert to be at road level or above.
3. I used terrain modifier to create a channel that essentially cuts a large channel through the road. Then I created a SA/2D connection to create a blockage or bridge where the road once was. Then I put a culvert in like in #2. Problem here is that when I run my model, the water follows the channel I created in terrain modifications and not the culvert. How can I override the model to say “Take the culvert not the channel?” I removed the culvert in another run and the water completely ignored the SA/2D connection.
Is there a way in RASMapper I can just slap a culvert on the terrain and give it dimensions so water can run under the road?
Thank you
