I have developed a 1D HEC RAS model to examine the impact of diversion canals on water levels in a trapezoidal channel. It has a total of 34 cross sections, at a 1 in 1900 bed slope. As a sensitivity, I would like to test the model at a steeper gradient (1 in 1000). Is there a quick way of getting HEC-RAS to steepen the bed slope?

I know there is feature to adjust all XS points by a constant, but I would like to adjust each XS by distance*tan(a) from a given cross section and angle a.

    Thanks.

Since it is trapezoidal, you might be able to delete all the crop sections except the first and last. Raise the upstream cross section and then interpolate cross sections.

Don’t know of an easy way to move existing sections. A script using the RAS controller would be way more trouble than worth for 34 sections.

I would use the channel modification tool where you could just enter in the slope you want.
