    when to apply DSS?
Working on a stream where uppermost section is beginning where very little flow is generated?
On a stream where the flow at uppermost section is receiving a strong flow?
Can you use it for both steady and unsteady in the same model?

I had a problem with adding the dss but fixed that (helps to read the help thoroughly ha). The beginning water surface elevation is decent, but the ending is much to low. I added the flow to the beginning section only. Should I add it to the end also? I am not sure the best practice of spreading the flows throughout the river.

there are two types of flow files: Steady (f01) and Unsteady (u01). They can’t be mixed. DSS files from HMS are for unsteady models and volume is important. You can also just enter data for Unsteady models without DSS.

If you want to use sort of create a Steady model in Unsteady, you would use a constant inflow for a very long period of time.

Thank you Cameron. That is what I needed to know. I have input the info for a hydrograph in unsteady flow files before.

Am delineating a regulatory floodway and need to run a steady and refine with unsteady. Two project files I assume.
