Need some help from someone who knows computers and networks much better than I do. Here’s the situation. I’m running an unsteady flow 1D HEC-RAS model. The software is installed on my hard drive (C), but the data set is stored on an office network drive. I do this quite frequently and have never had an issue with running data sets over the network until version 5.0.3.
Now, when running a dataset over the network using 5.0.3, the postprocessing goes about 5 to 10 times slower than running the same dataset from my hard drive. In 5.0.1, running a dataset over the network and running it on my hard drive gives nearly identical post-processing speeds.
I’ve tested this on other computers in my office, other computers in other offices, and HEC even ran some tests. So far my computer is the only one experiencing this problem.
So…does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong with my computer that is post-processes RAS 5.0.3 slowly when running a dataset over the network? I’ve tried all the typical stuff: rebooting computer, uninstalling/reinstalling 5.0.3, restoring windows to a previous control point.
