HEC-RAS Graphic XS Editor – n value bars

Hello. In the Graphic XS Editor, we can set/move bank stations and move the vertical lines to adjust n values. When I adjust the red bank station points, I notice that sometimes the vertical n value bar automatically moves with the bank station points and sometimes it doesn’t. I find it very convenient to have the n value bar and bank station points move together, but I am not sure when this happens. When the n value line doesn’t move, I have to manually adjust it and it could be time consuming.
Does anyone know how I can make the n value line moves with the bank stations in Graphic XS Editor everytime I move the bank station points?

It is not moving for you because it goes against the rules of the cross section and its banks. In the regular cross section editor the user can make errors by adding bank stations wherever they want. However when the model is run, no matter the bank location, the WSEL will show at the lowest part of the cross section.

In the graphical XS editor it will not allow you to straddle banks when there is a lower elevation adjacent to it. So its not an error its because you shouldnt be defining banks where you are, which is why you are going back to the cross section and doing it manually. So either trim your cross section or delete the data associated with the lower elevations at or around the true banks of the stream.

So in essence, you shouldn’t set the bank stations until you have run the model first and then adjust it below the WSEL.
