    Hi there,

we are using HEC-GeoRAS and HEC-RAS for a university project. We created all necessary input files in HEC-GeoRAS. Once imported to HEC-RAS there seems to be an issue with the stations along the cross sections. The station numbering is imported as 0 or 0.010. The elevations are correct however the points to draw the cross section plots are on top of eachother.

    Any clues?

Here is a dropbox folder with the exported files from GeoRAS and two more screenshots.

Been spending quite some time on this but I haven’t managed to eliminate the problem.

I am facing the same problem you had faced before. And want to know how to transform geographic co-ordinates to projected co-ordinate system in arcgis. I have used hecgeoRas and DEM file to extract cross-section data. please help.

That you can do by projecting the data in ArcGIS. Use the “project” tool
    from the Data Management Tools.

Thanks a lot for your patience. Could you also tell me at what point of execution should i transform the projection, that is after creating attributes in hecgeoras or before that? This action can be performed on what type of files?

You should perform the projection at the very beginning. Once you have all
your input data that you want to be working with (point, lines, polygons,
raster (DEM)) you project it before you touch any HEC-GeoRAS tools.

Sorry to bother again. But, could you also tell me what data are you using in HECgeoras? I am using toposheets which I have georeferenced in the relevant projected co-ordinate system and DEM to digitize river features. And now, i get the error message that river node lies outside terrain! thanks, in advance.

Your river line feature must fully lie within the DEM terrain tile.
If you google the problem you will see you are not the first one facing it
and there are some solutions to be found 😉 e.g.

suggestions given by you was very useful for my project. But i had a problem in it, initially i converted the coordinate system of all layers to projected coordinate system and we can’t convert the coordinate system of basemap to projected coordinate system.so the error ” river node lies outside the terrain” occurs.how to resolve it…thanks in advance!

Yes. All your layers have to be in a projected coordinate system.

Yes. All your layers have to be in a projected coordinate=
    system.

Do the cross-sections look like they came in the correct coordinate system? You could check this in the geometry editor or mapper and see if the coordinates match what you had in GIS.

What is the projection of the 3D XS Cutlines in GIS? Is it in the correct projection?

Have you tried just creating the model in Mapper?
