Is it necessary to provide Downstream Boundary condition to do 2D simulation in HECRAS 5.05? If downstream boundary condition is not provided does it mean that water is not leaving the 2D flow area?

if now downstream boundary, water can not leave the system and it will just fill up like a bathtub.

I feel a warning should be given if downstream boundary condition is not provided as new user may not know about the consequences of not providing it. Warning would definitely alert the user. Hope HEC people would take it into consideration…

I actually think thats a good idea.

HEC-RAS 2D is one of the most dangerous software out right now because of how easy it is to produce bullsh*t
