I used HEC-RAS several years ago, and have to follow some examples to learn how to use HEC-RAS again. One problem I met when I practiced one of the examples is that when I changed the downstream reach length of a cross-section, HEC-RAS did not re-arrange the space between two cross-sections accordingly, i.e. the location of a cross-section would not change. However, if I plot all river reaches and cross-sections from scratch, HEC-RAS does re-arrange the space between two cross-sections correctly if I change the downstream reach length of a cross-section. Does anybody know the reason for this difference? Thanks.

If your model is georeferenced, RAS will maintain the cross section vertex coordinates for it’s position, regardless of the reach length. That could be why you are not seeing a change.

    Thanks, Chris. That’s the problem.
