    Hi all,

I am currently trying to create geometry in Ras Mapper (Hec-Ras 6.0) on the basis of a 12m TanDEM-x DEM. However, the cross sections don’t take the terrain profile (just a straight line when plotted) and also don’t take the bank stations from the bank lines. I don’t know where my mistake is here. Maybe the DEM is not suited and needs further processing before used as terrain in Ras Mapper?

Thanks for your help and kind regards,
    Mark

12 m is very very coarse. But if you see the terrain in Mapper then it should show values. Prior to cutting XS’s you must right click on geometries (bolded word) and associate your geometry with the terrain. Then, RAS will recognize the terrain and geometry together as one.

    Hi all,

Im having the same type of struggle as Mark Tuschen above.

I created a new Terrain in Ras Mapper with a Tiff file. I got the Tiff file by doing this, downloaded elevation data from OpenTopography and opened it in Global Mapper. Then Exported it as a Geo Tiff file, this is the file that I use for the terrain. Is that correct of am I doing something wrong?

I’ve created a geometry in HEC-RAS 6.0, added Cross sections to river, but the cross sections don’t take the terrain profile (just a straight line when plotted) and also don’t take the bank stations from the bank lines.

I checked under “Manage geometry Associations” if my terrain is in the table, and it seems to be there in table. Don’t know where my mistake is… Can anyone please help?

    Kind regards

    Shane
