I started using Hec-Ras recently, so I still have many doubts about some basic commands .. One of these is “the cross-section coordinates – stations”, when I build the “cross-section data” in geometric data.
When I enter the coordinates of elevation, I know that I have to put them in relation to the height of the downstream sections; for example, in section 20, the point with the lowest altitude is not equal to zero, but it will be the difference between the absolute height of section 20 and height of the downstream section.
If the river does not have a straight course, should i do this reasoning even for the “cross-section coordinates – station”?
At first I thought no, because in cross section data are also required 3 points for the “downstream reach lenghts,” but now I am no longer sure.
Thanks in advance for the help!
