I am having trouble importing terrain into HEC-RAS 5.0.3.

    Here are my steps:

-Created surface in Civil3D 2017 with LiDAR .las data imported into point cloud.
-Exported surface from Civil3D as geotiff with 1.0 ft grid spacing (5GB file size).
-Import geotiff into SAGA GIS using Import/GDAL/Import Raster.
-Export to ESRI .flt file using SAGA GIS. Adjusted the .hdr file in notepad so HEC-RAS recognizes it. (Note: This step I also have tried using ArcGIS import/export functions and get the same result below)

Next I setup a new HEC-RAS file, set the projection file and go to import the terrain and get this message:

Any ideas? I’ve had success with running a 2D flow model before, although the terrain in that one was only 1GB and was on a Windows 7 machine.

why are you converting it to a float file? HEC-RAS can read geotif files and is what it converts it to when all is said and done.

I’ve tried using the geotiff directly exported from Civil3D but get the same result. The reason I tried converting was I found this document on the autodesk website:

    https://forums.autodesk.com/autodesk/attachments/autodesk/66/286834/1/Civil%203D%20with%20HEC%20RAS.pdf

Page 12 of that document it details the process I’ve tried.
